Walking in the Sand with Jesus

"Be Still My Soul"
Mark Missman
Seaside Whispers was inspired by my dreams of a cottage by the sea where I can walk the beach hand in hand with Jesus. Each morning, I picture myself meeting Jesus on the beach. We begin each walk with an embrace and Jesus taking my hand in His.

We walk in the sand, with the foamy water of the sea lapping at our feet. We laugh, we cry, but all the while Jesus is teaching me. He leads me, He guides me, and He brings me peace. I can tell Him anything because He is my very best friend; my Father. I can feel His love, His mercy, His forgiveness, and His joy. These are the greatest feelings that I can imagine; they are Jesus "hidden treasures of the sand".

What would you talk to Jesus about if you walked with Him in the sand?

"For they will draw out the abundance of the seas, And the hidden treasures of the sand."
Deuteronomy 33:18-19

Strawberry Pie

This is one of my Janna's fave desserts! I would go to the bakery to buy her one cuz, to be honest, I don't have lots of confidence in my own cooking. But I finally got tired of spending $15. just to get this pie that, personally, I didn't think was that great.

So I started searching for recipes, but most were more complicated than I wanted to deal with. If it gets too complicated or has to many ingredients, lots of times, I won't even try it. I like things simple and easy so I don't over-work my itsy bitsy brain.

So I finally came up with my own little version of a strawberry pie. And guess what? It's super simple and so easy to make!

Last Christmas, I found, to my delight, that my niece, Haley loved it, too!

So...here ya' go!

Ingredients:

Fresh strawberries
Strawberry Gelatin (Premade in the produce section)
1/4 cup Sugar (Optional)
Fat-Free Cool Whip
Pet Ritz Pie Shell (For less fat, try the Keebler Reduced-Fat Graham Cracker Crust)

Directions:

1. Combine sliced strawberries with gel and sugar. (Save some of the strawberries if you'd like to garnish your pie with them.);
2. If using a frozen pie crust, bake per directions on package.
3. Spread strawberry mixture evenly in crust;
4. Cover top of pie with cool whip, and garnish with strawberries;
5. Refrigerate.

Oh yeah! Eat up!

Life's Little Treasures

You know life is filled with "little treasures" that can make you smile. I remember sitting at my kitchen table just listening. My two daughters were in one room, while my three little grand-daughters were sitting in another room on the opposite end of the house.

My daughters were laughing and just enjoying being together and remembering old times. And I could hear the grandbabies in the other room just laughing and playing. I just sat there and listened. It was peaceful; it was rewarding. To just stop for a minute and cherish their laughter, their lives.

They are all so important to me, and I love them dearly. But so many times, life gets too busy for us to just stop and "smell the roses". In all my life, I think this was one of the nicest moments I've ever had - just listening to the five of them - and feeling true happiness and contentment.

So I ask you to just take a little time each day to just stop and listen. You might be surprised at what you hear.

I'd Rather Be at the Beach

Ahhh...the beach! Warm sun on my face, sand between my toes, and the smell of the salty air. Seagulls crying overhead, and waves crashing against a lonely seashore; that's what I call paradise!

I've always loved going to the beach; it's so peaceful. When my daughters were little, we made trips to the beach every summer. We built many a sandcastle there, buried toes in the sand, and waded into the cool, foamy water.

And now, we're carrying on that tradition with my grand-daughters. We still play in the surf, sun, and sand. I know my children and grandchildren will forever carry on this tradition, and they will always share my love of the beach.

When God created the beaches and the oceans, He created serenity.

And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:10

Our closest beach is Galveston Island which can be found deep in the heart of South Texas along our Texas Gulf Coast.

Once known as the "Playground of the South", Galveston Island is a thriving tourist town filled with southern charm, history, and hospitality. With its 32 miles of beaches, the island also offers family entertainment from attractions to museums, dining, shopping, resort hotels, water sports, and its ever-popular historic Strand District.

And now the island offers even more entertainment with Galveston's Historic Pleasure Pier.  Built where the historic Flagship Hotel once stood, the Pier offers waterfront family fun with a wide variety of attractions and games.

It's no wonder that our family is proud to call Galveston Island "our beach"!

My Girls

These are my girls! My youngest daughter, Jessica, (aka Jessie) is there on the left with her daughter Carlie. And my oldest daughter, Janna, is on the right with her daughter Bree.

And this is my Bella! She was Janna's little surprise, and she's my little buddy!

I love hanging out with my girls whether it's just watching movies, going to the beach, the drive-in, or eating at our favorite restaurant, Casa Ole!

Thank you Lord Jesus for my precious girls! Besides You, Lord, they are my best friends here on this earth! ♥
