Waiting on the Lord

"Come Follow Me"
Liz Lemon Swindle
In this fast-moving society, we have learned anything but patience. We want everything right now! Yet in practically every aspect of our life, we are required to wait. We find ourselves waiting for the "right one" to come along. We wait in traffic. We wait in lines for our lunch. We wait for a better job opportunity.

And yet the most important waiting we will ever do is to "wait on the Lord". Do you know that this simple commandment is given multiple times in the Bible?

Waiting on the Lord includes hoping in God, believing and expecting that God will take care of you in His own time. In the meantime, God wants us to rest in Him while we wait. He wants us to trust Him. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

Are you waiting on the Lord today?

"The Lord is good unto them that wait for Him..."
Lamentations 3:25

Deviled Chicken

I found this recipe on All Recipes.com, and it's got to be one of the best I've tried!

Once again, I changed it up just a bit, but my family absolutely loves it!

It's kind of like "Deviled Eggs" meets "Chicken"! 😊

Ingredients:

3-4 Chicken Breasts
½ cup of Mayonnaise
2-3 T. Yellow Mustard
2-3 drops Tabasco Sauce
Bread Crumbs
Parmesan Cheese
Black Pepper

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees;
2. Cut chicken breasts into filets or cutlets;
3. In a shallow bowl, combine the mayonnaise, mustard, and Tabasco sauce;
4. In a deeper bowl, combine your bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and Black Pepper;
5. Coat both sides of your chicken with the mayo/mustard mixture;
6. Then coat with bread crumb mixture;
7. Place on sprayed cookie sheet covered with foil;
8. Bake for approximately 35-40 minutes, depending on your oven;

Eat up and enjoy!

I Will Not Leave You

Many times in my life I have felt "forsaken" or abandoned.  I felt alone, sad...just devastated.  But because I'm a child of God, I know that my Lord will never leave me.  I know this because His Son was forsaken in our place.

When Jesus was on the cross, He knew this, too.  Yet He cried out, "My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?"  I never truly understood what Jesus meant until recently.

You see the Bible says, "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us" (2 Corinthians 5:21).  Jesus was sinless, but He allowed our sins to be placed on Him.  I believe that the moment that all of mankind's sins fell on Him, and He fell under God's judgement, He took the judgement that we deserved.  For the first time in HIs life, He was separated from His Father because sin separates man from God.  I believe this is why He cried out to His Father.

What about you?  Is your sin separating you from God today?  Please don't let another day pass by without Jesus in your life.

I Saw God Today

"I've been to church,
I've read the book,
I know He's there,
But I don't look,
Near as often as I should.

His fingerprints are everywhere,
I just slow down to stop and stare,
Open my eyes and then I swear,
I saw God today..."

Yes, I'm sure you recognize these lyrics if you're a Country Music fan or a George Strait fan. It's one of my favorite songs.

I was riding in the car with my girls the other day, and I was really listening to these lyrics. They are so true you know. We know God is there, we see evidence of Him everywhere. In everything we do, in every place we go - God's fingerprints are there! He's the wind blowing through the trees, the butterfly that lands on the flower, the sun that warms our face; He's everywhere. But like the song says, we know He's there, but we just don't look. Why? Because we don't slow down and take time to notice. We're too busy hustling and bustling about to enjoy life.

I know, for me, I'm really bad about not taking enough time for the Lord and just sitting and talking to Him. But boy, let a problem come along, and He's the first one I talk to. I want Him to take care of everything, but you know that's really not fair. He tries to talk to us everyday. He sends the birds to sing to us, and the wind to whisper to us. Just try to slow down; look all around you. You might be surprised at what you'll see.

 Have you seen God today?

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13

Who Moved?

"O Jerusalem"
Greg Olsen
I passed a church one day, and the sign outside of the church said, "If you don't feel as close to God as you used to, who moved?"

You know that question can really make you think.  There have been many times that we may not feel as close to God as we'd like to.  We often question, "Where did you go, God"?  The answer...God didn't move, we did.

The Lord says, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."  He tells us His love for us is constant.  He is "the same yesterday, today, and forever".  (Hebrews 13:8) Chances are if we're feeling distanced from God, the problem lies with us, not with God.  He's still there, just waiting for us to come back to Him.  All we have to do is just whisper His name.

What about you, have you moved away from God today?

A Little Bit of Sugar

Several years ago, I was cooking one night, and I asked Bree to get Nana some sugar. I turn around to find her all puckered up for a kiss.

I grinned and said, "Oh! I need some sugar for the tea, but I'll be glad to have some of that sugar, too!"

Isn't it funny being from the South and talkin' the way we do?

My grandkids don't know which "sugar" I'm talkin' about!  I love it!
